24 MIRRORS Berlin - Germany, 2022: The sculpture “24 Mirrors” by Spanish artist SpY is a kinetic artwork made up of twenty-four skewed surveillance mirrors rotating in unison.

The piece engages visitors in a constantly shifting, hypnotic experience in which the viewer’s image is fragmented into multiple moving reflections.
The form of the artwork and the number of elements in it hints at how contemporary social settings become inescapably surveilled 24/7, in both the physical space of modern cities and the virtual space where we spend an ever-increasing part of our lives.
“24 Mirrors” plays with ideas such as identity, privacy, and the relative nature of reality. It generates an effect of visual fragmentation and multiplication that extends beyond the piece itself by the action of the viewers capturing and sharing images of the installation online.

La pieza ofrece una experiencia hipnótica en constante cambio en la que la imagen del espectador se fragmenta en múltiples reflejos en movimiento.
La forma de la obra y el número de elementos que la componen alude a cómo los entornos sociales contemporáneos se transforman gradualmente en espacios ineludiblemente vigilados 24/7, tanto en el espacio físico de las ciudades modernas como en el virtual, en el que pasamos cada vez más tiempo de nuestras vidas.
“24 Mirrors” juega con conceptos como identidad, privacidad, y la naturaleza relativa de la realidad. Genera un efecto de fragmentación y multiplicación visual que se extiende más allá de la propia obra por efecto de la acción de los visitantes que capturan y comparten imágenes de la instalación en internet.
